Homeopathy is a scientific method of medical treatment which stimulates the body’s own healing processes in order to cure illnesses. Homeopathy is based upon the discovery that a substance can cure symptoms similar to those it can cause.
The work “homeopathy” is derived from the Greek “homoios” meaning similar and “pathos” meaning suffering.
The science of homeopathy was founded by a German physician and chemist, Dr Samuel Hahnemann, in the early 1800’s. Through numerous self experiments he furthered the known theory that “likes are cured by likes.” Dr Hahnemann then determined the remedies he tested on himself had too severe an effect at the conventional dosage. He found that an appropriately prepared dilution provided a faster and safer healing effect. Upon this principle lies the basis of modern homeopathic remedies and practice used by physicians and patients worldwide.
